Volunteering - The Why and How

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Wisconsin Film Festival!

Wisconsin Film Festival volunteers serve as the Festival's ambassadors to the community, helping guests of the enjoy the best possible Film Festival experience. The University of Wisconsin-Madison Arts Institute and the Department of Communication Arts invites returning and new volunteers to help up celebrate cinema at the 19th annual Wisconsin Film Festival this April.

Throughout the years, the Film Festival has been fortunate to have remarkable and dedicated volunteers from all walks and stages of life - students to retirees. Qualified volunteers enjoy working with the public, understand the importance of being reliable, and have a love for film.

If you would like to join the Wisconsin Film Festival team, please click here to fill out the online Volunteer Registration form. Once your registration is processed, you will receive a welcome email from us (check your junk folders!). A few days later, a follow-up email will include your Shiftboard account password.

Volunteers design their own schedules using the Wisconsin Film Festival's Volunteer Shiftboard, an online scheduling program. Shifts are 4-6 hours long and we expect our volunteers to sign up for at least two shifts and an orientation. More information about Volunteer Tasks is available under the News tab on the Shiftboard website. In addition to shifts during the Festival itself, we will also have volunteer opportunities in the Festival offices in the weeks leading up to the Festival, and at some other special Festival-related events.

The Wisconsin Film Festival is pleased to reward our volunteers with complimentary Wisconsin Film Festival tickets, one ticket for every two hours of volunteer time.
